Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is one of the most common pathological conditions encountered in clinical practice. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), IDA has been identified in 1.8 billion people worldwide. In developed countries of Europe and in Russia, approximately 12% of women of reproductive age suffer from IDA, while nearly half of women in this category have latent iron deficiency, which essentially represents a preceding stage of IDA.
