In-Vitro Thrombolytic Activity and Total Phenolic Content of the Hydroethanolic Extract of Citrus limetta Fruit Peel

ABSTRACT:

Background: Citrus limetta (Rutaceae), commonly known as sweet lime, is widely used in folklore medicine and possesses various pharmacological properties. However, the fruit peel has not been extensively evaluated for its clot-lysis potential. Objective: The present study aimed to determine the total phenolic content and evaluate the in-vitro thrombolytic activity of the hydroethanolic extract of Citrus limetta fruit peel. Methods: The dried fruit peel was extracted using a hydroethanolic solution (water:ethanol, 60:40) via a Soxhlet apparatus and fractionated with petroleum ether. The total phenolic content was determined using Folin-Ciocalteu’s reagent. The in-vitro thrombolytic model was used to assess the clot lysis activity of the extract compared to a standard drug (Streptokinase) and a negative control (water). Results: The physicochemical evaluation revealed an acidic pH (5.05) and a specific gravity of 1.229 g/ml. The total phenolic content was found to be 13.48 mg/g of Gallic Acid Equivalent (GAE). In the thrombolytic assay, the extract exhibited an average clot lysis of 14.28%, compared to 60.98% by standard Streptokinase and 4.01% by the negative control. Conclusion: The hydroethanolic extract of Citrus limetta fruit peel possesses moderate in-vitro thrombolytic activity, which may be attributed to the presence of phenolic compounds.

ABSTRACT:

The integration of visual technologies in higher education has gained increasing attention as a means of enhancing student learning outcomes and professional competence. Scribing technology -encompassing manual and digital methods of visual information representation -offers promising potential for structuring knowledge and fostering key competencies in future educators. Objective: This study aimed to verify the effectiveness of pedagogical conditions, a structural model, and a methodology for developing the professional competence of undergraduate students in a Mathematics and Informatics teacher education program through the systematic integration of scribing technology within the course ‘Informatics and Digital Technologies’. Methods: A experimental was employed involving students from two higher educational institutions. An experimental group received instruction through the scribing-based methodology, while a control group followed the standard curriculum. Data collection instruments included questionnaires, pedagogical observation, analysis of student work products, content-specific tests, and self-assessment tasks. Levels of professional competence -encompassing digital, communicative, and creative components -were assessed at ascertaining and control stages using consistent diagnostic tools. Results: Following the formative intervention, students in the experimental group demonstrated positive dynamics across all three competence dimensions. Improvement was observed in digital literacy, communicative skills, and creative problem-solving compared with baseline measurements and the control group. Academic motivation and cognitive engagement also increased. Conclusions: The scribing-based methodology proves effective in developing multi-component professional competence among future educators. The findings support the purposeful incorporation of visual technologies in pedagogical higher education and provide a replicable framework for further implementation and research.

ABSTRACT:

This article examines the theoretical foundations of gamification as an innovative pedagogical approach in teaching English to economic students. Gamification — defined as the strategic use of game-design elements in non-game educational contexts — offers solutions to the most persistent challenges in Business English instruction: motivation deficits, low engagement, and weak retention of specialized terminology. The study integrates Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Flow Theory to explain why game mechanics enhance language acquisition. An empirical experiment involving 120 second-year economics students at Tashkent State University of Economics revealed a 34% increase in vocabulary retention and a 41% improvement in classroom engagement in the experimental group compared with the control group. The findings confirm that integrating points, badges, leaderboards, and narrative-based mechanics into ESP courses significantly improves learning outcomes. The scientific novelty of the work lies in adapting gamification mechanics specifically for the ESP needs of economics majors within the Uzbek higher-education context.
